Devin's Birthday Cake

Every year for Devin's birthday I make him a cake that resembles something he enjoys doing. I never let him know what it is or see it until it is completely finished. For past birthdays I have done four wheeling, a Guitar Hero guitar, baseball field with baseball cupcake and then this year I really challenged myself. I decided to do a mountain with a mountain bike. Devin has really enjoyed mountain biking and has done it a lot the past year. As you notice in the pictures the bike is going down the mountain, he enjoys that part a lot more then the going up.
It was such a fun cake to make with all the little details. I was so nervous, but it turned out pretty good. I made it the morning of his birthday so by that night when we had everyone come over for cake and ice cream it tilted a little. Next time I will know to support it better. It never fell though.

Lets be honest I was so proud of my Rams

This bike is a little out of proportion with the cake but it was the only one I could find. My nephew Kayden was pretty excited when he saw what the toy was and that he would now be able to play with it when he come over.
Yes I made him blow out 25 candles. He tried to just buy the "2" and the "5" candle but I didn't let him.

Bret's Funeral

We love you Bret!!! I love this picture!

Bret loved Mountain Dew so we had a toast to him. It was a pretty cool sound with everyone opening them at the same time.

Bret Lewis Blakey 1982-2010

It really has been such a hard month, lets be honest I am glad that January is over. I don't know what I would do without great friends, family, and the gospel in my life. I don't understand how people get through the loss of a loved one without the gospel in there lives.
I have been so blessed to have known Bret the last 4 years. If it weren't for Bret and Britney, Devin and I would have never met. Devin and I are so lucky that we were able to live next door to him and Britney and spend lots of time together. A lot of our weekend nights were spent watching movies, going to Cold Stones, or just hanging out together. He was always cracking jokes and making everyone laugh. He was such a great brother in law, friend, and neighbor to me. I already miss him and know that I will continue to miss him but I also know he is in a better place and that I will see him again. We love you Bret and will never forget you!

Blakey Family Pictures

So a couple weeks ago we went and took family pictures with Devin's side of the family. Devin's mom wanted 16 pictures of each family for something that she is doing for Christmas. So for everyone else in the family that is easy cause they have kids. Well Devin and I had to be more creative. We had two different outfits and went to two different areas to take them. I felt like we were doing our engagements all over again but it was so much fun!!

We have started working in a multi level company called Maakoa. They had there launch party this weekend up at the Grand American in Salt Lake City. It was so much fun. It was a all day event. We invited our friends Jason and Jen to come up and have some fun with us.
Through the day they had different seminars, fun presentations, and we were also able to meet former Jazz player Brian Russel. Then they had a awesome lunch for us.
That night they had a big fancy dinner where we ate steak and lobster tail. It was delish, and no Devin did not even try the lobster tail. Lets be honest it was a little to fishy for me but fun to try. Its funny cause I don't think Devin has ever been to eat somewhere where they have more then one fork sitting on the table.
They also had some awesome entertainment. There was a guy named Jason Hewett who came and did impersonations of different song artists. He sounded just like them, it was hilarious. Then they had a acrobatic show from Vegas. I wish I could have taken pictures of that cause it was so cool.
We had such a fun time and are so excited about the products. They are so awesome!

Cake Decorating

I have been taking a cake decorating class with my sister Mary and dad. We just finished our fondant and tiered cake class and will probably start the next course in October. It has been so much fun to learn how to decorate cakes and it has also been a fun bonding experience. Lets be honest though my dads cakes always turn out so much prettier, me and Mary are a little jealouss. In my tiered cake picture my little cake on top was ready to collapse that why it looks a little weird.

Stewart Falls

This last Friday we went one a hike to Stewart fall. It was a lot of fun. I had done the hike before but it was when I was little so I was not sure where it started. We asked a few people before we left so we would have an idea on where to park. So we parked at Sundance and started heading up. We asked the guys who were working the left if we were going up the right hill and they said yes. We headed up and it took us to the amphitheater, those liars. So we walked down and started on the other path. We ran in to a couple and asked them where it started and they told us where to go. We walked probably a half mile and got to a dead end. So before we even started the real hike me and my mom were already worn out. We walked back to the car and drove up a little higher and finally found where we needed to go. Devin and I were babysitting our nephew Dylan so we brought him along for his first hike. He is such a good baby and just hung out most of the time. I borrowed one of those little font packs that you can put babies in from one of my friends (Devin hates them), so that is how I carried him up. On the way down Devin wanted to give him a break from being in the carrier so he carried him the whole way down. Devin's arms were tired by the time we got down. I kept telling him that I could put him back in and he kept saying no. I think he was just embarrassed that I was wearing it, it worked out great though. We also made my mom come along with us, she is so much fun to be with! My dad was going to come but he went golfing instead, I think Devin wished he was golfing also. It was a lot of fun though plus we got a good work out, out of it.
